TEACHER AIDE, SPECIAL EDUCATION

REPORTS TO: TEACHER THEY ARE ASSIGNED TO, BUILDING PRINCIPAL AND
DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL SERVICES



A. Characteristics

1. Has ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal language.
2. Displays interest in children.

B. Educational Requirements

1. Minimum of 60 semester hours - college or university.
2. Background in education or related field preferred.

C. Job Duties

1. Assists classroom teacher as instructed.
2. Works with individual students as instructed.
3. Carries out policies of district, building, and classroom.
4. Maintains confidentiality of all students and classroom information.
5. Attends staff meetings, workshops, and training.

D. Essential functions of the job

1. Able to move about classroom to the student's location.
2. Able to communicate (both verbally and written) with students,
staff, and parents.
3. Able to lift and carry texts and classroom materials.
4. Able to follow instructions given by and relate to classroom teacher.
5. Perform duties assigned by administration.
