Title: Help Desk Technician

 

Qualifications: Must have a minimum of sixty (60) college credit hours and maintain a valid Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate; background in computer science, information technology, or a related field preferred and two years of general experience with computer maintenance and repair.

 

Reports To: Building Administration/Chief Technology Officer

 

Job Goal: This position will consist of assisting and providing training for users, hardware and software troubleshooting, installations and repairs, and other related functions as needed.

 

Performance Responsibilities: The Help Desk serves as the primary agent of customer service and liaison assisting students and staff with technology. The Help Desk Technician will operate with the following major objectives in mind:

  • Offer a positive customer service experience to students and staff who visit the Help Desk and models professional appearance and behavior.
  • In absence of certified Help Desk teacher, supervise and directs the operation of the Help Desk and student helpers.
  • Troubleshoot Chromebooks that student helpers were unable to repair.
  • Ensure and maintains integrity of data collected from work order system, inventory system and billing/fines.
  • Create and maintains databases of usernames/passwords for Learning Management System and various software applications.
  • Identify and communicate details of computers that have been misused or violations of the AUP to designated Assistant Principal.
  • Establish, with IT Services, system of return for repaired Chromebooks.
  • Verify warranty repairs before Chromebooks are returned to students.
  • Install, configure and maintain both Microsoft and Chrome OS operating systems, software, and peripherals (e.g. printers, scanners, etc.).
  • Maintain desktop PCs in offices, kitchens, and other locations.
  • Troubleshoot problems with computer systems, including troubleshooting hardware and software, e-mail, network and peripheral equipment problems; makes repairs and corrections where required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with teachers, students, administrators, and other staff .
  • Must be able to climb and work from ladders, step ladders, step stools, and be able to bend, lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Must have dexterous use of both hands so as to be able to operate computers and other related office equipment.
  • Must be proficient with various word processing programs, spreadsheet programs, database programs and network operating system programs.
  • Any other duties assigned by the administration.

Terms of Employment: Twelve months full-time employment. Primary assignment will be at the High School.
