Description | TITLE: SPORTS FACILITIES ATTENDANT/CUSTODIAN
REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS, MAINTENANCE FOREMAN AND ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
JOB GOAL: PERFORMS DUTIES FOR PREPARATION, EXECUTION, AND CLEANUP OF SPORTING EVENTS
Performance Responsibilities:
- Will adhere to all local, state and federal regulations
- Will adhere to all rules and regulations set forth by the Poplar Bluff Board of Education
- Will work under the supervision of the Director of Buildings and Grounds, Maintenance Foreman, and Athletic Director
- Be on-call and work overtime as needed
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set-up and tear-down for all High School and Junior High stadium events
- Prep skyboxes, field boxes, and press boxes for events
- Put-out and pick-up all field markers, pylons, goal post pads, chains, etc…
- Work during events to keep facilities stocked and in repair
- Set-up and tear-down for all Junior High gym events
- Set-up water coolers, trash cans, bleachers, clean and put bleachers out, clean and put scorer’s table and scoreboard out, sweep the floor, stock and maintain the bathrooms, and remove all trash
- Report maintenance issues for repair
- Performs other duties as assigned
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Must be able to lift, carry, and load the equipment and supplies which weigh 30 – 60 pounds as much as 10 times per day
- Must be able to work safely through all aspects of the job duties
- Must be able to climb and work from ladders, stepladders, and stepstools
- Must have dexterous use of both hands to be able to operate power tools, hand tools, and mechanical hand tools
- Must be able to drive Maintenance vehicles with a standard shift, and the ability to pull a trailer behind a vehicle
- Must have previous experience in the safe operation and use of tools such as drills, saws, lawnmowers, weed-eaters, and hedge trimmers
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors (outdoors in hot, wet and cold, (below freezing) weather
- This is strenuous work requiring good corrected vision, hearing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and the ability to work on the school buildings and grounds
- Must be able to communicate clearly with teachers, students, administrators, and other staff members
- Must be able to read and understand written orders and instructions
- Must be able to understand and follow-up on oral and telephone delivery orders and instructions
- Must have a valid state driver’s license
