TITLE:    AT-RISK TEACHER AND PROGRAM COORDINATOR

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in education. Hold a valid teaching certificate in the appropriate area.

 

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

 

JOB GOAL: Exhibits classroom rules conducive to learning. Maintain a structured environment with minimal disciplinary disruptions. Create a classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth. Establish

effective rapport with pupils. Provide necessary supports for students to complete assignments, re-coup the necessary number of credits for graduation. Promote academic achievement and encourage each student to obtain their home school. Be a positive role model to all students.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Provides instruction in core academic areas, as assigned by teachers. In addition, provide supplemental learning activities based on the age and needs of the child.       
  2. Communication with the administration, teachers, counselors, parents and attendance officer.
  3. Maintains positive classroom behavior supports. 
  4. Maintains professional competence through educational activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
  5. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil. 
  6. Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction. 
  7. Communicates with parents and counselors to discuss pupil progress. 
  8. Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports. 
  9. Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assisting students to learn self-help skills. 
  10. Selects and requisitions books and instructional materials; maintains required inventory records. 
  11. Supervises students throughout the entire day. Provides adequate supervision during the times students are present. 
  12. Administers assessments in accordance with district testing program. 
  13. Participate in curriculum development as required. 
  14. Participate in faculty meeting, and the sponsorship of pupil activities assigned. 
  15. Adheres to all local, state and federal regulations. 
  16. Abides by all district policies and procedures as outlined by board policy and teacher handbooks. 
  17. Prepares for classes and shows written evidence of preparation upon request by immediate supervisor. 
  18. Displays effective classroom management. 
  19. Liaison with FCCBH 
  20. Keep documentation as directed by FCCBH 
  21. Complete orientation and training as directed by FCCBH   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

 

  1. Computer keyboarding skills required.
  2. Must be able to bend, lift and carry up to 15 lbs.
  3. Must be able to communicate clearly with teachers, students, administrators and other staff members.
  4. Must be able to read, understand and follow written and verbal directions, Instructions.
  5. Must be able to move freely around the classroom.
  6. Must be able to stand and monitor the behavior of students.
  7. Fulfill any other duties assigned by the administrator.   

Specific Responsibilities:

 

  1. Provide instruction and ensure classroom assignments are completed by each student.
  2. Assist students who have exhibited poor behavior in the transition back to the regular school setting.
  3. Provide a positive learning environment for disruptive students to complete assignments.
  4. Travel, if necessary, by personal vehicle to each designated school.
  5. Enter attendance and student information into the computer system.

      

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:   School term. Salary will be determined annually in accordance with the approved salary schedule.

 

 

EVALUATION: Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education policy.
