JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: HIGH DOSAGE ACADEMIC TUTOR (part-time position)

REPORTS TO: BUILDING PRINCIPAL

JOB GOAL:  Academic tutors will provide tutoring to underserved students in small groups, on a sustained, daily basis, to address learning loss on a more individualized basis. 

Pay: $40 per hour  (tutors will work 3 hours a day for 3 days per week)

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Applicants must hold a Missouri Teaching Certificate.
  • Experience in the grade and subject matter is preferred.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Tutors will work 3 days per week for 3 hours each day.  The building principal will determine the schedule. 
  2. Tutors will accelerate student learning by focusing on building prerequisite knowledge and skills while simultaneously integrating new learning that is part of the grade-level curriculum.  
  3. Tutors will be responsible to submit monthly paperwork and quarterly evaluation reports.

  • Ability to interact in a non-judgmental manner with culturally diverse populations and persons experiencing a wide range of social conditions
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and the ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and receive constructive feedback
  • Ability to use discretion, maintain confidentiality and ethical conduct
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

  1. Must be able to lift, carry and load equipment and supplies that will weigh as much as 30-60 pounds, 3-10 times per day.
  2. Must be able to climb and work from ladders, stepladders, step stools and to aid in directing traffic.
  3. Must have dexterous use of both hands so as to be able to operate security related equipment.
  4. This is strenuous work requiring good corrected vision, hearing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting, running and the ability to work at all the school districts buildings and grounds.
  5. Must be able to communicate clearly with teachers, students, administrators and other staff members.
  6. Must be able to read and understand written orders and instructions.
  7. Must have a valid state driver's license.
