Title:  Instructional Interventionist

 

Qualifications:  THE TEACHERS APPLYING FOR THE POSITION OF INSTRUCTIONAL INTERVENTIONIST MUST HAVE FIVE YEARS EXPERIENCE AS A SUCCESSFUL READING SPECIALIST, PRI MARY CLASSROOM TEACHER, OR SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER. 

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION WILL BE GIVE TO APPLICANTS WITH A MASTER'S DEGREE IN READING AND/OR MATH AND THOSE POSSESSING READING CERTIFICATION.  GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE INSTUCTIONAL INTERVENTIONIST POSITION WILL INCLUDE:

           

  • KNOWLEDGE OF CURRENT RESEARCH IN READING AND/OR MATH.
  • A COMMITMENT TO HELPING TEACHERS AND PARAPROFESSIONALS GROW AND DEVELOP IN READING AND MATH INTERVENTIONS.
  • BEING A LEARNER WHO SEEKS FEEDBACK ON HIS/HER PERFORMANCE.
  • EXPERIENCE AS A BUILDING TEACHER-LEADER AND/OR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FACILITATOR.
  • UNDERSTANDING OF THE IMPORTANCE OF USING ASSESSMENT DATA TO INFORM DECISIONSD AND COMMUN ICATIONG RESULTS TO STUDENTS, STAFF, PARENT, THE COMMUNITY, AND ALL OTHER STAKEHOLDERS.

 

Reports To:  Building principal, the Associate Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development.

 

Job Goal:  Each interventionist goal will be to ensure that the ideas established in the professional development setting are translated into actions improving student achievement.  Interventions will be focused on authentic student work; closely tied to the specific data goals and objectives.

 

Performance Responsibilities:

 

  • Collaborate with building principals, the Associate Supt. Of Curriculum & Instruction, and the Title 1/Federal Programs director, to ensure coordination of all intervention including; Title1, PAT, Early Childhood, Special Education, ELL, and any other program that addresses the academic needs of students.
  • Attend Reading and Math Professional development.
  • Attend professional development offered by Macmillan/McGraw Hill and Acuity assessment program.
  • Review intervention strategies and plan for ongoing staff professional development.
  • Facilitate weekly grade level meetings to discuss student progress and to assist with lesson planning that focuses on developing Reading/Math.
  • Facilitate using an ongoing model of diagnostic and data driven teaching which will ensure that all children are receiving appropriate instruction to meet their assessed needs and remediate their Academic debilities.
  • Assist in the coordination of intervention plans with classroom instruction and assuring that all curriculums are aligned with GLE's Common Core Standards.
  • Maintain paperwork consistently and in an appropriate manner.
  • Facilitate study groups.
  • Provide fidelity for the core Reading and Math curriculum.
  • Organization and instruction of students to address individual and small group needs.
  • Be involved in referrals where requested an/or the RTI team.
  • Keep the building principal fully informed of any academic concerns and problems or when there are considerations for change.
  • Explain and demonstrate techniques and materials to classroom teachers when requested.

 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

The instructional Interventionist will work a 9 month contract, salary to be established by the Board.

 

EVALUATION:

 

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Performance Based Teacher Evaluation.
