TITLE: BUS MECHANIC
REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION
JOB GOAL: COMPLETE SERVICE, MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF SCHOOL BUSSES AND ALL OTHER SCHOOL VEHICLES.
Performance Responsibilities
- The bus mechanic will adhere to all local, state and federal regulations.
- They will also adhere to all rules and regulations set forth by the Poplar Bluff Board of
Education.
- The Poplar Bluff School District will employ two mechanics. One will be designated as
a head mechanic. This person will be designated by the Director of Transportation.
- They will have on file a current health certificate, indicating they are in reasonably
good health.
- Mechanics will hold a valid Missouri and Federal licenses, as required by law.
Duties and Responsibilities
- The bus mechanics primary responsibility is to maintain and repair all vehicles owned
and operated by the school system.
- They will serve as a State Inspection Station for the purpose of inspecting annually
all school busses and other school vehicles.
- They must be able to road test all repaired vehicles.
- Drive a bus route.
- They are responsible for all duties and responsibilities of regular bus drivers; except
they are not to be reassigned to custodial or maintenance duties during the months
school is not in session.
- Be responsible for any other duties assigned by the Director of Transportation.
- Must be physically able to lift and change bus tires.
- Must be physically able to assist or remove students from the bus in case of an
emergency
